What is Padho Pradesh Scheme- Interest Subsidy Scheme- Minority- 2017?

This scheme was started to encourage meritorious students belonging to the economically weaker 
minority community. This will provide the students with an interest-subsidy for pursuing higher 
education abroad.

Who can apply for this scholarship ?

The following students will be eligible for this subsidy:
  1. The subsidy is available only for students belonging to minority communities (declared under section 2
  2.  (c) of National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992) (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, 
  3. and Parsis)
  4. Students applying to pursue their Masters, M.Phil or Ph.D. degree from abroad are eligible
  5. This scheme is available only for education loan taken from the scheduled banks under education
  6.  loan scheme of the Indian Bank Association
  7. Total family income in case of unemployed student or total income of the student in case of 
  8. employed student should not exceed INR 6 lakh p.a.
  9. Income certificate should be submitted from a competent authority in State/ Union territory
  10. Preference will be given to female candidates and the subsidy will be given in ratio of the 
  11. population of minority communities

How can you apply ?

Students may follow these steps to apply for this scheme:
Step 1: Apply for admissions in Oversees University for Master's, M.Phil or Ph.D. program
Step 2: On receipt of admission offer letter from the university, apply for education loan from any 
scheduled banks (like Canara Bank, SBI, etc) under education loan scheme of
 the Indian Bank Association
Step 3: Apply for the Padho Pradesh Scheme along with education loan
